Sheperd Paine - Maestro, pacem aeternam

I just learned that il Gran Maestro of Military Miniature Modeling  Sheperd Paine passed away yesterday, August 1, 2015.
Mr. Paine was a great artist and innovator in the field of model miniature art, especially in the Box Dioramas
I have several books by Mr. Paine - also there is this  fine biography about the artist  - a review here -  and loved to read his advice and exchanges on planetfigure.
I personally met Mr. Paine during the World Expo Boston 2005, and I was so and still am proud of having had the chance of meeting this giant of art of miniatures.
Jim DeRogatis eulogy here
Pacem Aeternam, maestro Paine
Mr. De Rogatis writes:

'In that spirit and per his[Sheperd Paine]  wishes, the MMSI has established the Shep Paine Education Fund, which is accepting tax-deductible donations in his honor to continue his invaluable work as an educator and proselytizer for the art of miniatures via classes, seminars, and other projects. Contributions to this dedicated fund can be made via PayPal at or by mail to The Shep Paine Education Fund care of MMSI Treasurer Tom Surlak, 3136 Secretariat Dr., Aurora, IL 60602.'

It seems that I have lost all my photos from the visits to the various miniature figurines shows I attended back in 2004-6, so no picture in this post.
