From British Museum, under Creative Commons licence, comes this XVI century print by the German printmaker Jost Amman, who frequently drew and printed images of the Ottoman warriors and soldiers.

It comes from this print, lavishly published by Jost Amman, and the British institution has only this etching. The etching shows some episode from the Ottoman wars in Hungarian Kingdom of the 1520-30s. .

Stanislaw Bohusz-Siestrzencewicz - horses and wagons

Polish turn of the XIx century painter and graphic artist - Stanislaw  Bohusz-Siestrzencewicz (1869-1927), disciple of Bogdan Willewalde and Jozef Brandt. Artist was very much rooted in Polish culture of Warsaw and Wilno (Vilnus nowadays). Author of many articles  eg Piekno i Sztuka (Wilno 1916) [Beauty and Art]. The world depicted in his paintings was eradicated by the Red Bolsheviks 1917-1921, and later by the Nazis, Soviet Communists and Banderites 1939-45.

Jaroslav Věšín - Czech painter in Bulgaria

today let us loot at the gallery of works by a great genre painter from the Slavic lands, i.e., Bulgarian kingdom, Czechia and Slovakia (then part of the Hungarian Kingdom).

  so this pre-World War I Czech painter, Jaroslav Vesin, studied in in Prague with prof. Antonin Lhota, and then in Munich (with Jozef Brandt and  Karl von Piloty et al.) . He was one the founders of the painting school in Sofia, Bulgaria where he remained until his death in 1915AD.

so this is a vibrant country life - robust peasant life and some hunting
