Cowboys and horses from Montana

we have come to the last month of this year, December 2023.

War and mayhem are happening around the globe, let us pray for peace and tranquility, as the joyfull season of Christmas is coming, with this year's Advent or the fasting preparatory 4 week time already upon us.

Firstly, I would like to point your horses towards the Montana Historical Society site, where you can read a 2020 digital issue free - on the Buffalo soldiers in Montana and other stories from that summer issue.

Secondly, the Montana State Library has a digital repository - Montana History Portal - where you can enjoy historic photos from the late XIX and early XX century Montana. Courtesy of  the site I selected some photos showing cowboys at work with horses or just showing their horseman finest. These photos are from  Laton Alton Huffman Collection, Huffman being a period photographer and artist.

Archive- world wide library - has collections of old magazines, photos and postcards about the Stampede and events taking place during this oversize rodeo. 

here are some wild horses and broncs from the olden days and their riders - including 1960s descriptions of the bronc riding from the official Stampede publication  - sort of like present day Argentinian gaucho jinetada
