We are in la Semana Santa (Holly Week) leading to Jesus Christ Great Friday Crucifixion, and then the pinnacle of Christianity - the  Resurrection on  Easter  Sunday.

There is also the illegal war in western Asia, US & Israel bombing Iran and Iran sending missiles and drones against the American and Israeli assets...  Awfully dangerous conflict, that could lead to the nuclear world war III. There is also war against Christians, war in Ukraine (Russian aggression against the Ukrainian state).

Ad rem, the title of this post is the Latin name for a Caucasian leopard, the Western Asia- Southern Europe subspecies of the great cat. Here about the cat in present day Armenia. eg Pakistan here, 

while looking at the Ilkhanid, Timurid, Safavid and Ottoman miniature illuminations we often see light spotted skins worn by heroes and warriors or soldiers. 

I think the many of these leopard skins in these paintings were made from the hides of the Panthera Tulliana leopard.

Wings and horsemen from a German master

Killing of children of Niobe

last night, looking at some German painters from the XVI and early XVII century I came across a painting by Johann Konig (Kreis). Master Johann was born in Nuremberg in 1586AD and died there in 1642AD.

Meister Johann painted in oils on copper panels, the technique allowed for very precise detail in oil paints etc - 

according to Wiki Commons, this painting showing Christ's Passion was sold at Sotheby's London in 2010

Farewell Old Year 2024

and the last hours  of the old 2024 - Adios  Old Year.

These drawings I draw and painted on paper, with pen, ballpen, watercolor and gouache, mixing techniques.  

.. I like to think we once had shamans who had been eating Amanita Muscaria (muchomor czerwony in Polish) and then dreaming about the world within and without.

today I prepared a sort of info-graphic, where we can learn and understand a little more about one of the riders in Stefano della Bella's print - Entry of Jerzy Ossolinski into Rome, AD 1633.

wspierając się  swoją ogromną kolekcją sztuk pięknych i księgozbiorem godnym biblioteki w Upsaki ( dowcip to oczywiscie, skądinąd wiadomo, że księgozbiór starodruków w tej szwedzkiej bibliotece pochodzi z rabunków w Rzplitej Obojga Narodów) w majątku Zahińce na Podolu,  stworzył piórkiem i pędzlem cykl albumów dotyczących broni, zbroji, sztandarów, rzędów końskich etc epoki głównie przed-rozbiorowej.
