Camels & beauty in The Holy Land via David Roberts' brushes

the last day of May 2024 - and to finish off this month of camels , I have selected some artwork by David Roberts(1796-1864), a Brtish painter and draughtsman,  from his opus magnum - The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia. - from the Holy Land - land of Israel and Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, Syria & Egypt - in the 1830s AD. 

Amazing skills of observation and composition,  sure hand and careful-for-detail eye - simply put, these works are simply wonderful.

Joseph Austin Benwell - 1800s Dromedaries

so the month of May is about the end - the wars in Asia, Europe and Africa seem to go forever.

some camels - this time let us enjoy some dromedaries in their Middle Eastern environment - artwork by Joseph Austin Benwell ( 1816-86)  - here a site dedicated to this British artist 's life and art. 

Benwell's artworks have been collected and auction, like at Christie's.
