Helmets with horses and horsemen

 Salvete Omnes,

from the collections of American MET and Italian state museums come these objects with horse engraved, incised or repoussed on the bronze helmets.

South-central Crete , a late VII century BC bronze helmet with horses  created through the  repousse technique (with small lions incised). - from the MET.

the 500-450 BC helmet with incised horses, horseman and a groom (?) - perhaps Etruscan - from the collections of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Marche, Ancona.  From 'A cavallo del tempo exhibit' (2018).

 A fragment of a terracotta relief with two chariot (?) horses- late 6th century southern Italy (then Magna Graecia).

Finally, the ancient Greek armor,  a bronze belly guard  from theVII century Crete (the MET), from the same cache where the helmet was found.
