Aleksander Orlowski - The Persians

 Salvete Omnes,

today a little artwork  of this Polish expatriate - Aleksander Orlowski -

two Persian ladies on pilgrimage - a fine mule is their beast of burden

During this Saint Petersburg period (1802-1832) he painted, drew and printed many subjects -  I would like to bring your attention to the Persians in his art:

Polish National library says this is a wife of Persian sultan

enjoy these images done during the early XIX century by our Polish artist (or based on his work by other engravers etc).

Arabian Horse DNA study

Salvete Omnes,

the new month- :) , interesting battle anniversaries eg Kluszyn/Klushino 1610, Grunwald 1410 etc.
....in the realm of the genetic studies a new study has been made available - Genome Diversity and the Origin of the Arabian Horse.
The Nature brings this article in their scientific reports section - with multiple authors and geographicly spread out samples.

It has some puzzling conclusions going against the lore of the Arabian and English Thoroughbred mutual relationship. Namely, the Arabian horse had very little to do with the racing lines of the English blood horse, but there are Thoroughbreds in the modern Arabian lines[sic!].

and yet another genetic study article, on the Persian Arabians and their relationship to other Iranian breeds.
valete!
