Esaias van de Velde - ambuscades & attacks

a short entry - Esaias van de Velde (1587-1630AD) - already  I posted one entry on maestro Esaias's drawings last year.



So perhaps a few of his works showing his paintings depicting ambuscades and attacks on the travelers etc in the countryside (he was a master of landscape painting).

Jan Victors - horses, boots and donkeys

 Salvete Omnes,

groom and the bay or buckskin horse with a docked tail


again we visit the Dutch Golden Age paintings - this time it will be the canvasses of Jan Victors (1619-1679) and equine related detail from his art

Horses and wagons - Pieter de Neyn

today a quick posting from the first half of the XVII century Holland.




we can study some paintings by Pieter de Neyn (1597-1639) in search of horses and wagons - 
first some military topic - cavalry and their horses, there are wagons in the background

Summer is ending with .. Abraham van Calraet horses

so our 2023 summer is ending - c'est la vie.
how are your horse things these days - I try going to the stables often, and enjoy the summer-sleek horses prancing in green meadows etc.

ad rem, a quick entry -
 I have been looking at some paintings by Abraham van Calraet -  a Dutch painter living during the Age of Opulence in Low Countries (always like that book by Simon Schama - The Embarrassment of Riches - some more detailed infor on the book here )

So these saddles are quite interesting - 

from the traditional large one -  look at that Paint 





 to a version, in leather most likely   - with nice -:)  grey horses 


to more peculiar saddles , some quite flat almost in the English saddle fashion - starting with this palomino steed 





these spotted horses - 




do enjoy these beautiful horses and their riders etc
